6 years agoSeattle Mariners first baseman Jay Bruce clobbered a pair of solo home runs as the team went on to rout the White Sox 9-2 on Saturday afternoon. The left-handed slugger now has five dingers on the campaign to go along with 10 RBI, as he's putting a miserable 2018 in the rearview mirror. Despite the tremendous pop early, Bruce has only accounted for seven hits on the year and is batting a paltry .184 so far this season. His average is worth sacrificing for the big power numbers as long as he keeps going yard. Bruce has five seasons of 30/90 under his belt, and at this rate he could finish 2019 with six. The 32-year-old will look to keep his momentum going in Sunday's matchup versus Ivan Nova, who finished seventh a season ago in HR/9.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
