Toyota Owners 400: DFS NASCAR Sleepers and Drivers to Avoid at Richmond

We're coming off of an incredible finish for Kyle Busch at Bristol, as he bagged his 3rd win of the 2019 season. After being wrecked early in the race (like the first lap) Busch showed us yet again to never count him out. Busch was followed by his brother Kurt Busch to the finish line, and he even made the remark that he was going to wreck him.

My pick to win it all was Joey Logano. He led 146 laps and was the Stage 2 winner and still produced great fantasy numbers for those that used him in DFS last week.

Editor's Note: RotoBaller has released it's NASCAR Premium Pass to help you win on DFS sites. The NASCAR Premium Pass writing team includes FSWA Hall Of Famer Scott Engel,  four-time FSWA award winner Daniel Dobish who has won NASCAR writer of the year twice, and five-time NASCAR DFS Tournament champ Sean Engel. What We Learned at Bristol

  • Kyle Larson is not the same Kyle Larson from 2018
  • Matt DiBenedetto is on the fantasy radar
  • Hendrick Motorsports still has some bugs to work out
  • Ryan Newman is still a valuable play at certain tracks

DFS Sleepers - Toyota Owners 400

Martin Truex Jr.

The short track curse has been rough for Truex throughout his career but this may be the week we see him put on a better show for DFS owners. Truex finished in third at Richmond last September and had a Top 15 finish last April. Truex is itching for a short track victory and his numbers are a lot better here then they are at Bristol.

Matt DiBenedetto

I was truly impressed by the driving DiBenedetto did at Bristol. People have forgotten that he led 49 laps at Daytona and I know Richmond is a short track but that is still a great stat for an "under the radar" driver. DiBenedetto's best finish at Richmond is 16th, which came in last year's Toyota Owners 400.

Erik Jones

Jones finished 24th at Bristol on Sunday after qualifying 8th from the pole. The day didn't turn out the way he had hoped and his fantasy owners were burned pretty hard. Look for Jones to bounce back this week at Richmond. Jones has qualified inside the Top 20 here since the start of his career and finished sixth in 2017.

DFS Avoids - Toyota Owners 400

Paul Menard

Last Sunday we saw Menard place a Top 10 finish at Bristol but don't let this trick you into putting him in your lineups this Saturday. At Richmond, Menard's only Top 10 came in 2013 when he was with Richard Childress Racing. Since 2016 Menard has finished 22nd or worse at Richmond.

Kyle Larson

I really don't know whats happened to Kyle Larson this season but it is far from good. The Chip Ganassi star racer has only bagged two Top 10s this season and has (in my opinion) been surpassed by teammate Kurt Busch as the new head honcho of the team. Until Larson can show us the driver he has been in the past or the cloud of bad luck floats away from him, I won't be starting him.

Ryan Blaney

Ryan Blaney had an incredible car last week, finishing fourth behind teammate Joey Logano. That's not enough for me to give him the go ahead this week at Richmond. Blaney has simply not been able to master this track. Even with one of the best cars and teams on the track Blaney hasn't been able to pull off a Top 15 finish in his career at Richmond. Stay away from this Team Penske driver on Saturday.
