ANALYSIS: Jeff McNeil was brought up and shocked the fantasy community in 2018. It wasn’t miraculous, but it was steady, consistent production that led many teams to a fantasy championship. He finished the year with three homers, seven RBI, and a .329/.381/.471 triple slash. Also impressive was his 6% walk rate and only a 10% strikeout rate.
The Mets brought in a couple of bats during the offseason, including
Todd Frazier and
Jed Lowrie, that left McNeil to a super-utility role. Both were injured to start the year resulting in increased playing opportunity for McNeil. He’s taken advantage and proved that 2018 was no fluke. While he hasn’t hit a homer or stolen base, McNeil does have nine RBI, and his triple slash is an impressive .364/.440/.477. His plate discipline continues to amaze with a 12% strikeout rate and a 6% walk rate. McNeil will only face right-handed starters this week on the road in Philadelphia and St. Louis. All of these circumstances are still in his favor as he hit .345 against righties and .301 on the road in 2018. McNeil is a great addition to ensure you maintain quality ratios.
