6 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Rick Porcello pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing just two runs, on six hits, while striking out five, and walking one in Saturday's 6-5 win over Tampa Bay. It was the first time this season that the former Cy Young has pitched into the sixth inning. Porcello didn't generate a lot of swings-and-misses (just 7%) but he stranded 90% of runners that reached base. It wasn't a perfect outing for the 30-year-old, as he needed 91 pitches to get through his outing, but being able to work into the sixth is encouraging for the coming starts. He'll need to increase his strikeouts and continue to limit big innings before he can be trusted again for fantasy purposes. Depending on how the Sox plan out their rotation, he'll either face the Tigers on Thursday, or the Rays again on Friday.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
