6 years agoTampa Bay Rays closer Jose Alvarado took the loss on Saturday against the Red Sox. He let up two hits and the eventual game-winning sacrifice fly to Andrew Benintendi in the top of the ninth inning. This was Alvarado’s first loss and first run allowed on the season. He showed he won’t be perfect every night, but he should stay pretty close to it, as he boasts a 0.87 ERA with 17 strikeouts over 10 1/3 innings. Alvarado is still a top closing option, as the Rays should continue to put him in save situations.--Zach Alexander
