6 years agoSeattle Mariners starter Marco Gonzales improved to a league-leading 5-0 Thursday night in his best start of 2019 to date. The lefty fired seven shutout frames and struck out nine while giving up six hits and no walks. Gonzales is looking like a true ace so far this season with a 2.80 ERA and 1.20 WHIP, although his 34 punchouts in 45 innings leave more to be desired. Gonzales tied a career high in single-game strikeouts in this one, so starts like these won't be as common moving forward. He'll take on the Cubs at home next week, who will have the designated hitter in their lineup, but he will remain a must-start as he's yet to give up more than three earned runs in a game.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
