6 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Rick Porcello lasted six innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out five and walking two in a 7-3 win over Detroit on Thursday. It was his longest outing through five starts and his third time punching out five hitters. The right-hander has now walked just three batters through his previous two starts after walking at least three in each of his first three outings. Porcello's 7.43 earned run average is still very high, but the last two times out point to positive regression continuing. The 30-year-old has a long way to go before he's considered a must-start, but a home matchup with Oakland on Tuesday should allow Porcello to regain some consistency.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
