Chris Sale Drops To 0-5 On Sunday
6 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale lasted seven innings, allowing four runs, on four hits, while striking out eight, and walking three in Sunday's 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay. Just two of the four runs he allowed were earned, so technically Sale was credited with a quality start. However, it's hard to feel confident in those numbers, as Sale threw just 72 strikes in 111 pitches (65%). The 30-year-old is now 0-5, with a 6.30 ERA through 30 innings. A 32:10 K:BB is a positive note, but is drowned out by his team-leading seven home runs allowed. Sale realizes his performance hasn't been up-to-par through six starts, telling the media, "I've sucked in every one of them." He'll have another go-at-it on Friday, against the White Sox, the team that drafted him.
