6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Vince Velasquez gave up three earned runs in 3 2/3 innings pitched during Tuesday’s 3-1 loss to the Tigers. Velasquez started the game hot, retiring the first five batters, three of which came on strikeouts. Things quickly unraveled in the third, though, as the 26-year-old righty gave up a two-run homer to Niko Goodrum. Velasquez finished with seven strikeouts to his name, but continues to frustrate the small percentage of owners only a week after holding the Mets scoreless at Citi Field. Until we see consistent command on Velasquez’s four-seamer, he remains unownable in most leagues.--Ryan Cook
