6 years agoBoston Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez had just one hit, a solo home run, in Wednesday's win over Oakland. His homer in the eighth inning was insurance for Boston's bullpen to complete the 7-3 victory. The 28-year-old has now surpassed his 2018 home run total of three and needs just three more runs batted in to surpass that total, too. He's on pace for a career year as Boston's main backstop. As of right now, he's still mainly an AL-only option or in two-catcher formats, but if he continues getting on base and driving runs in at the bottom part of the order, he'll gain more traction in deep mixed leagues. Boston begins a four-game series with the White Sox on Thursday where Vazquez should get the majority of starts, except when Chris Sale pitches.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
