Tyler Mahle Takes Hard-Luck Loss
6 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Tyler Mahle held the New York Mets to one run over five innings of work in his Thursday start. He struck out seven and scattered four hits, with the only run of the game coming off of a solo homer. Mahle needed this start as he came into the game struggling, having allowed nine runs in his previous two starts. The young right-hander now has a 0-4 record, 4.09 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 33 strikeouts in 33 innings of work. He is on the radar as a streaming option in favorable matchups going forward. Mahle is scheduled to face the Oakland A's in his next start, which will be Tuesday.
