Matthew Boyd Tosses Seventh Straight Quality Start
6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd has been a pleasant surprise to start the 2019 campaign, and he turned in another strong performance on Wednesday against the Angels. Boyd scattered three hits in six innings of work, allowing one run and striking out six in the process. The most remarkable thing about Boyd's quality start on Wednesday, though, is the fact that it's his seventh one in a row. Boyd has shown electric stuff in seasons past, but hasn't put it all together until now. He boasts a 2.86 ERA and 2.30 FIP on the season, which he'll carry into a home start against Houston next time out.
