Austin Riley Seeing Extended Time In Triple-A Outfield
6 years agoAtlanta Braves prospect Austin Riley played left field again Sunday for the fourth time in five contests. Sunday was also the third straight start in the outfield for Riley after playing strictly third base prior to his first game in left. The Braves originally planned to play Riley in left field just a couple of times per week, to get him acclimated in the event a spot opening up in Atlanta. Riley has massive power and a good approach at the plate, with a 1.077 OPS thus far in Triple-A. He is on a major heater currently, hitting nine home runs in Gwinnett’s last 11 games, giving him 14 on the season. There is not currently a spot for him on the big league roster, but in a dynasty league or on a roster with room to stash, Riley is worth consideration as he may force Atlanta’s hand sooner rather than later.
