Charlie Morton Shuts Out Marlins
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Charlie Morton shut out the Marlins over six strong innings, allowing three hits and striking out five without a walk. The quality start is his fourth of the season along with his fourth win. This start improved his ERA to 2.32 with a 1.13 WHIP and 29.8 percent strikeout rate. The only thing that hasn’t improved from last year is his walk rate, but those more walks have come with a decrease HR/FB rate to only 6.3 percent. Fantasy owners will take a few more walks if it means less home runs allowed. Morton is shaping up to be a great late round pick. He’s a must-start against any lineup. He’ll be on full rest on Sunday to face the Yankees, however, keep an eye on how the Rays use their pitchers this week because it’s possible the they won’t use him until Tuesday in a tough matchup against the Dodgers.
