6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Chris Archer (thumb) was activated off the 10-day injured list Wednesday and pitcher Clay Holmes was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room on the roster. Archer had been on the shelf due to thumb inflammation since April 27 and Wednesday will mark his first start since April 26. Through five starts in 2019, the 30-year-old is 1-2 with a 4.33 ERA. He houses a 29:12 K:BB with just a 12 SwStr%, which should be higher for a strikeout pitcher. Hopefully the time away helped his thumb recover, and he will be ready to go against Arizona.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
