Marco Gonzales' Strong Outing Not Enough In Loss
6 years agoSeattle Mariners starter Marco Gonzales had an excellent day on the mound Wednesday versus the Texas Rangers, but the offense couldn't help him out leading to his fourth loss in a row. He went seven innings giving up two runs (one earned) with a walk while striking out three as he returned to form after a couple of subpar starts. Gonzales started off the year 5-0 but has yet to win a game since April 25. He holds a respectable 3.41 ERA and 1.33 WHIP on the year but hasn't racked up many strikeouts with 48 in 68.2 IP. With the Mariners team on a downward spiral since their hot start to the season, wins may remain elusive for the southpaw despite giving up three earned runs or less in all but one of his starts this year. Gonzales will take on the Rangers yet again in his next start as he looks to put an end to his losing streak.
