6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cole Irvin was knocked around by the Cubs in Chicago Wednesday night. He pitched 4 2/3 innings and surrendered seven earned runs including a grand slam to Albert Almora that knocked Irvin out of the game. The rookie southpaw had been good in his first two starts but clearly didn't have it Wednesday giving up seven hits and three walks. Irvin is dropable even in deeper leagues as he doesn't profile as a fantasy starter. Irvin won't help in strikeouts, he's never had higher than 7.31 K/9 in the minors and he is a fly ball pitcher playing half his games in a very hitter-friendly park. He is not a recommended start next time out at home vs the Cardinals.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
