BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 19% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The Blue Jays have had some well-documented issues at second base this season whether it be from injury or lack of performance, and they have recently decided to give the call to high-performing prospect (and son of HOFer Craig Biggio) Cavan Biggio. The 24-year old Notre Dame alumni has just replaced Eric Sogard in the middle infield as of Friday, and though he came into the majors as an unranked prospect, there is plenty in his minor league track record to be excited about.
In 2018 at the Double-A level in New Hampshire, Biggio displayed a poignant power/speed game by finishing the year with 26 home runs, 20 stolen bases, and an .887 OPS. This year, in 137 AB for Triple-A Buffalo prior to his call-up, Biggio had already put up six homers, five stolen bases (in six tries), and a slash of .307/.445/.504.
Despite some pedestrianism early in his professional career, he appears to have found his groove since the start of 2018, and the Blue Jays have rewarded this as they continue to try and fill the void at second base. Toronto hasn't shied away from headline-grabbing prospect call-ups in 2019, and Biggio has carried plenty of buzz with his name, but could produce immediate rewards with his bat and on the base-paths.
