BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 20% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Thanks in part to a ridiculous amount of injuries to players for the Pittsburgh Pirates, 24-year old rookie Bryan Reynolds has gotten an extremely healthy 116 AB. In that time, he has put up a fantastic statistical line that closely mirrors his minor league pedigree with a .345/.402/.569 slash and five home runs. The former Vanderbilt Commodore had another highly impressive run at Triple-A Indianapolis before receiving the call from the Buccos, going .367/.446/.735 with five bombs and three steals in 49 AB.
What's interesting about Reynolds is how he brings his offensive value to the table. He has never tested as a player capable of huge power/speed numbers, but has always produced modestly in each category. He has always made his living with consistent, high-quality contact and a solid walk rate, though he typically deals with a higher-than-ideal strikeout rate. That has mostly turned out to be the case so far in his charter MLB campaign with a 22% strikeout rate, 8.7% walk rate, and 48.9%/13.6% hard and soft contact figures applied to a 1.52 GB/FB ratio. The end product has been a .224 ISO and believable sustainability of his .422 BABIP. Even with limited rewards as far as dingers and swiped bags go, Bryan Reynolds still has an offensive skill set tailor made to net results at the plate.
