5 years agoTampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Jose Alvarado (family) is aiming to return to the team either Saturday or Sunday. Alvarado was placed on the family medical emergency list this past weekend and has been in Venezuela dealing with a private matter. Alvarado is part of a messy bullpen situation in Tampa. He shares the team lead in saves with Diego Castillo with six saves apiece, though Emilio Pagan is also in the mix for saves. Alvarado has a 31.4 strikeout rate, but still walks too many batters to be a truly elite fantasy reliever without a strong saves total. His walk rate of 15.7 will hurt his WHIP and his SIERA is up to 4.12. Add him in leagues where saves are a priority but he's best left on waivers in points leagues.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
