5 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas allowed two earned runs, four hits and a walk with three strikeouts over six innings in a victory on the road against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. He threw 65 of his 99 pitches for strikes in the quality start, he hit outfielder Mike Trout with a pitch and threw 14 first-pitch strikes to the 23 batters he faced. He is humming along with a 7-2 record, 2.83 ERA and 1.17 WHIP through 70 innings across 12 starts. His next scheduled outing is set for Sunday in Texas opposite the extremely shaky LHP Drew Smyly.--Daniel Dobish
