6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove struggled Thursday afternoon against the Braves allowing six earned runs in four innings. Musgrove was pitching on two days rest after being ejected in the first inning on Monday, but it didn't seem to affect him as he only allowed one run through the first four innings before imploding in the fifth as he was charged for five runs in the inning without recording an out. Musgrove has had an up-and-down season but is still startable vs the right matchup. He is by no means a must-own player, however. He won't help in strikeouts, 7.7 strikeouts per nine innings in his career, and his xFIP was 4.61 before this disastrous outing. That being said, he has an easy matchup vs the Tigers next time out so if he's already on your roster he's worth holding onto for that.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
