Matt Barnes Strikes Out Three In Non-Save Situation
6 years agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Matt Barnes pitched a scoreless eighth inning Saturday, allowing a single, and a walk, but striking out the other three hitters he faced. However, he needed 26 pitches to get through the appearance. Saturday marks his third straight appearance without allowing a run, after a blow up appearance on June 10, when he allowed two runs and only recorded two outs. Over 29 1/3 innings, he has 54 strikeouts, and a 1.16 WHIP. He is the Boston reliever to own, but manager Alex Cora has shown he isn't afraid to switch things up, so be wary if he doesn't get the next save chance.
