5 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez was hit hard Thursday night in New York as the Yankees tagged him for five runs in 3 1/3 innings pitched. Valdez was plagued by the home run ball giving up two homers while also walking three batters. Valdez had been great in his first two starts so he's not worth giving up on after one bad start in a tough matchup. He still walks too many batters, he has a walk rate around ten percent, but his 11.3 percent swinging strike rate is above average and he's backed by one of the best offenses in the Majors. He'll carry a 3.61 ERA into his next scheduled start Wednesday vs the Pirates.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
