5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Jay Bruce has been scratched from the lineup Saturday with elbow tightness as the team faces Jordan Yamamoto and the Miami Marlins. Roman Quinn will get the start in center field in his absence while Scott Kingery shifts over to left field. Bruce is having a terrific bounce-back year after missing nearly all of the 2018 campaign due to injury. He's turned his play up a notch as well since getting dealt to the Phillies at the beginning of June, hitting .276 with seven homers in 21 games played. The move to sit Bruce is purely precautionary, and he could even appear as a pinch-hitter if needed late in the game. Expect the veteran to return to the lineup Sunday in the series finale.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
