5 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi allowed five runs - three earned - and six hits with three walks and five strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision against the Houston Astros on Saturday. He managed to throw just 58 of his 94 pitches for strikes, including 14 first-pitch strikes to the 26 batters he faced while uncorking a wild pitch. The rookie started out 3-1 with a 3.43 ERA through his first 11 appearances, but he has won just once over the past seven outings while turning in just one quality start. He'll try and right the ship against the visiting Oakland Athletics on Friday.--Daniel Dobish
