David Robertson Throws Bullpen
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher David Robertson (elbow) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Sunday morning. It was the first time Robertson has thrown since his injury on April 14. The team's plan is for him to throw again on Wednesday and return to the Phillies bullpen in the last week of July. Robertson was expected to lead the Phillies bullpen in saves, but injuries to himself and other Phillies relievers have resulted in Hector Neris being used as the team's primary closer. It's impossible to predict how manager Gabe Kapler will use his bullpen a month from now, but Robertson is likely to slot into the eighth inning role unless something happens to Neris. At this point, Robertson's fantasy value is limited to leagues that value holds, or as a handcuff to Neris in very deep category-based leagues.
