5 years agoHendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman secured his first-career Monster Energy Cup Series victory at the Camping World 400 at Chicagoland Speedway, holding off a charge from Ganassi Motorsports driver Kyle Larson. The 26-year-old from Tucson, Ariz. had come close, posting three straight runner-up finishes at Talladega, Dover and Kansas earlier this season. After 133 Cup starts, Bowman was finally able to affix that checkered flag stick above the window on his No. 88 machine. More importantly he punches his ticket in to the Chase, too.--Daniel Dobish
