5 years agoBoston Red Sox first baseman Mitch Moreland is inching back to the team's lineup as he hopes to begin a rehab assignment soon. He was placed on the injured list on May 29 with a back injury, then was subsequently put back on the IL with a quad strain after returning for one game. Moreland has impressed power-wise this year slashing .225/.316/.543 with 13 homers and 34 RBI in 47 games with the Sox, and will look to continue the trend when he returns before the calendar flips to August. With Michael Chavis holding down first base, a move for him back to the keystone is in all likelihood when Moreland returns, although the veteran will likely sit versus the bulk of left-handers.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
