Nick Pivetta Takes Another Loss
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Nick Pivetta gave up six runs, five earned, in 5 2/3 innings and took the loss Wednesday vs the Braves. The start was a typical Pivetta outing as he flashed the brilliance he is capable of, but couldn't put out the fires when they started resulting in a bad pitching line. The Braves only had one baserunner through three innings and Pivetta was looking like the pitcher who posted a 3.42 xFIP and 27.1 strikeout percentage last season which made him a popular breakout pitcher this draft season. However, once the Braves got runners on, they were able to convert by launching two three-run homers, the second one knocking Pivetta out of the game. This is now four straight starts where Pivetta has given up four runs or more as his fantasy value keeps slipping down towards the deepest leagues and NL-Only.
