BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 35% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Looking at the overall numbers for Yandy Diaz in 2019, it's hard to see why he's available in 65% of leagues. A slash line of .273/.349/.477 with 11 home runs, 32 RBI, and 45 runs scored through 66 games will usually garner more attention in the fantasy world. But every time Diaz heats up - and his ownership rises - he hits the IL with another minor injury.
Diaz hit nine home runs with 22 RBI and 26 runs scored in his first 41 games with Tampa Bay before getting hit on the hand and missing two weeks. He then returned on June second and picked up right where he left off; slashing .361/.426/.508, with a .396 wOBA and 153 wRC+ over his next 15 games. But the injury bug struck again and Diaz hit the IL on June 17th with a minor hamstring injury.
Back again from injury, Diaz's ownership rate is back down to 35%, but that number will quickly rise if he heats up again. That hasn't happened yet, with Diaz posting a 62 wRC+ in his first ten games back while slashing only .205/.273/.333. But given the results from the 56 games prior, it is likely that Diaz will turn it around quickly. Because while Diaz has played only 66 of a possible 90 games, keep in mind that his 162 game pace would be 27 HR/78 RBI/110 Runs, with a 120 wRC+. Eligible at both corners, Diaz should be a useful fantasy asset going forward, just as long as he can stay off of the IL.
