ANALYSIS: I had Oscar Mercado ranked as the top waiver wire pickup this week before he went 5-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and a stolen base on Friday. Even that explosion hasn't been enough to put him over the 35% cutoff, despite his excellent overall numbers. The 24-year-old is hitting .294/.344/.463 with seven home runs, nine steals, and 61 R+BI in 53 games. What is a top prospect who has immediately made the leap to five-category stud doing on the waiver wire in two-thirds of Yahoo leagues right now?! The mind boggles.
