5 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale recorded 10 strikeouts, while allowing two runs on four hits and three walks in six innings of work during Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Rays. The southpaw needed 116 pitches to get through the outing but still made solid work of the Tampa Bay lineup. That's back-to-back double-digit strikeout performances for Sale, after his first two July starts weren't as fruitful. He's now 5-9 on the year with a 4.00 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and a 182/32 K/BB. He gets a Sunday road matchup with the Yankees in his next time out. He's faced the Yankees twice this year with both coming on the road. He allowed four runs in each of those starts, so there is some caution there against a top lineup, but you're starting Sale regardless.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
