5 years agoPittsburgh Steelers rookie running back Benny Snell Jr. gained the early favor of head coach Mike Tomlin on Monday. The team runs an annual "backs-on-backers" drill that pits the team's young ball carriers up against the linebacking corps in an effort to test their pass-blocking skills. Snell Jr. made a quick impression with his competitiveness and ability to keep the quarterback safe. While he didn't succeed on every rep, Tomlin continually put the rookie to the test and he met the expectations. Snell Jr. is third in line for touches this season, but being able to pass block is a quick way to earn playing time in games. James Conner and Jaylen Samuels will be in front of him all season, but Snell Jr. will be ready to go if one of them goes down with an injury. For fantasy, his immediate value is in dynasty leagues, while his re-draft value in nonexistent for the time being.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
