5 years agoCincinnati Reds utility man Josh VanMeter is not in the starting lineup Thursday against the Atlanta Braves. A relatively unknown prospect heading into the season, VanMeter excelled in the minors and is as hot as anybody in the MLB right now. In his last 21 at-bats, he's amassed 11 hits, eight runs, three home runs, four RBI, and a stolen base for good measure. Keeping up this torrid pace will be a tall task for the 24-year-old but he's worth a look in deeper mixed leagues, at least until his hot-streak comes to an end. Phillip Ervin will take his place in left and bat fourth against left-hander Max Fried. There are much better options available for those looking to fill their outfield position.--Joseph Magazzinich
