Jose Leclerc Hangs On For Sixth Save
5 years agoTexas Rangers relief pitcher Jose Leclerc allowed two hits, two walks, and a wild pitch but managed to escape the ninth inning with his sixth save of the season. Leclerc was called upon to protect a three-run lead against baseball's worst team and was barely able to do so after allowing two runs and having tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position. Leclerc is certainly not taking hold of the closer situation in Texas as he's walked five batters in his past two outings and it's fair to wonder if he's given the next save opportunity. Fellow reliever Jesse Chavez got the save before this game but was used in the eighth inning in this contest. Fantasy owners should consider this situation closer-by-committee until someone takes charge or Shawn Kelley comes off the injured list.
