ANALYSIS:
Verdugo just keeps on hitting. July was his worst season of the year, mostly due to bad luck. His BABIP dipped below .300 and his wOBA followed. He was still serviceable, though, holding a .344 against righties with three home runs. He’s remained an every day player even with Pollock back, and is showing why. He strikes out just 12% of the time and walks nearly as much at 8%. He’s not just patient, however, hitting 10 home runs and 16 doubles vs righties in under 250 at-bats. He’s been a consistent contributor since the start of the season and is now a piece the Dodgers rely on.
There’s no doubt that this Dodgers team is going to continue putting up runs and Verdugo will be slotted right into the heart of it all, either in the two or six hole on most nights. On the short term, the Dodgers will face off with the Cardinals, Diamondbacks, and Marlins. All three teams have rotations that struggle vs lefties and sport weak bullpens. In the long-term, Verdugo is an every day outfielder in a top three MLB offense. He’s worth an add across the board and is only 35% owned on Yahoo!
