Chris Sale Gets Shelled By Yankees In Game One
5 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale lasted just 3 2/3 innings and surrendered eight runs on nine hits, while striking out four in a 9-2 loss to the Yankees. This was arguably the southpaw's worst start all season. The 30-year-old gave up two home runs and has now surrendered a long ball in seven of his last eight starts. This was a bad beginning to August after Sale allowed 18 earned runs over five starts in July, which includes two outings where he allowed less than two runs. On the season he's 5-11 with a 4.68 ERA and a 193/35 K/BB in 132 2/3 innings. The Los Angeles Angels are on tap next for Thursday. If Sale is going to get back on track, this will be the time to do it. Start him up confidently, but if things go awry, it won't be the first time you were disappointed this season.
