ANALYSIS:
Dozier struck hot iron in July, boasting a .391 wOBA. For the first time in his career, Dozier walked (20) more than he struck out (18). This Nationals lineup is giving him loads of protection and he’s a guy that’s going to hit the ball well when not striking out. He’s up to 15 home runs and 19 doubles on the season, with 39 RBI and a BB/K at just 0.75. He’s also a strong platoon hitter, sporting a .403 wOBA vs lefties with a 40% hard contact rate. With that said, he has double the home runs vs righties, so he’s valuable against both sides of the rubber.
If you’re looking for a negative, he’s a pretty lackluster hitter vs righties and is often very boom/bust. However, it’s a very different situation in Washington with runners constantly on the base paths. They face off with the Mets, Reds, and Giants next, so Dozier should have least a few more weeks of fun before you can trade him or stash away for the playoffs. He’s a solid add in any league you can find him available.
