Devin Smeltzer Blanks Royals Over Six Innings
5 years agoMinnesota Twins left-hander Devin Smeltzer was excellent in a 3-0 win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. The rookie held the Royals scoreless over six innings of work while striking out four and allowing just three baserunners. Smeltzer has shown well in limited opportunities this season, posting a 1-1 record, 2.28 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings of work. It looks like he will take on the Cleveland Indians in his next start, which will take place on Friday. That won't be a great spot to use him in, but if he fares well again, fantasy owners can start considering him as a streaming option in deeper leagues.
