Dontrell Hilliard Loses Fumble In Preseason Opener
5 years agoCleveland Browns running back Dontrell Hilliard carried the ball nine times for 20 yards and caught 3-of-7 targets for 34 yards in a 30-10 win over Washington in Thursday's preseason opener. While Hilliard's usage in the passing game was encouraging, he did lose a fumble during the game. The second-year running back was thrust into a bigger role earlier in the day on Thursday when the Browns traded Duke Johnson to the Houston Texans. Hilliard has an excellent shot at winning the third-down role behind Nick Chubb while Kareem Hunt is suspended, but he will need to do a better job hanging onto the football. Expect to see a lot more of Hilliard in preseason Week 2 when Cleveland takes on the Indianapolis Colts.
