BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 32% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS:
That’s five quality starts for Anderson in his last six appearances. He never seems to blow the doors off, but five or six quality innings while giving up just one or two earned runs is very valuable in a points league. Anderson has profiled as a reverse splits pitcher that struggles vs righties, but it’s not necessarily true. His xFIP is identical against both sides of the plate (4.92), but he’s been lucky against lefties (.194 BABIP) and slightly unlucky vs righties (.333 BABIP). Once things even out, Anderson is equally average against both hands and is good at keeping the ball in the park. He’s struck out 22% of batters and is walking under 8%.
If you’re looking for a negative, the Brewers have a pretty tough schedule down the stretch. With that said, they still have the Marlins, Reds, and Padres on the schedule, so Anderson could easily fall into some luck and avoid the tough opponents. The Brewers are vying for a playoff spot and Anderson will be a key piece down the stretch as a guy who can eat up innings and keep the bullpen fresh. He’s worth an add if you’re looking for a pitcher to fill out your team and need a little bit of everything.
