Max Scherzer Throws Simulated Game
5 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer (back) threw two innings of a simulated game Tuesday afternoon. Scherzer threw 31 warmup pitches in the bullpen before throwing 32 pitches to an empty batter's box with an inning break after 16 pitches. Scherzer is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday at which point the Nationals will have a clearer timetable for the ace pitcher to return to the active roster. Manager Dave Martinez didn't rule out the possibility of Scherzer starting five days from now, albeit on a pitch count, which is a good sign for fantasy owners. Scherzer will carry a 2.41 ERA and an elite 35.3 percent strikeout rate into his next start whenever that may be.
