Rhys Hoskins Reaches Three Times In Win
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins doubled and walked twice in a win over the Red Sox Wednesday. The double was Hoskins' first extra-base hit since August 6, as the slugger has been mired in an extended slump. He's hitting just .176 in the second half and has the batted ball profile to match. Hoskins is making hard contact less than 40 percent of the time and his line drive rate has dropped from 23.7 percent in the first half to 13.8 in the second. Sill, Hoskins has elite plate discipline with a 17.5 percent walk rate that is second in the league to Mike Trout so he should get more pitches to hit if he can make some corrections. He'll try and turn things around this weekend in a series in Miami.
