Rhys Hoskins Breaks Homer Drought
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in a loss to the Marlins Sunday. Hoskins had not gone deep since August 3 and has been struggling mightily in the second half. Since the All-Star break, Hoskins is batting .168 with only five home runs. Fantasy owners should continue to trust Hoskins, however, as the slugger has been the victim of a .196 BABIP in the second half even though he's making over 40 percent hard contact. Despite the poor batting average, Hoskins is still taking his walks with a .345 on-base percentage in the second half so things should turn around for him soon. He'll look to carry today's momentum into a matchup with Joe Musgrove and the Pirates Monday.
