5 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Willie Calhoun hit his 16th home run of the season Thursday night in a loss to the Mariners. It was Calhoun's only hit in four trips to the plate but the rookie remains scorching hot at the dish. Calhoun is batting .345 with a .672 slugging percentage since August 15 and has homered 6 times in 15 games since then. On the season Calhoun is making hard contact over 40 percent of the time and boasts elite plate discipline for a young player as his strikeout rate is a pristine 16.5 percent.
