Tony Pollard (RB, DAL) - 2019 Fantasy Football Draft Values

ANALYSIS: We've grown accustomed to hearing about theEzekiel Elliott and Melvin Gordon contract situations. While the latter looked like a good threat to miss a big chunk of the season, the Zeke didn't. Turns out Elliott wants to join Gordon's exile party now and extend his holdout for as long as needed, and Dallas owner Jerry Jones isn't helping solve the issue (at least in public).

The similarities and differences between both situations in fantasy football terms come down to two simple things: 1) Elliott and Gordon will most probably miss games and therefore their backups will be RB1 for at least one week until they return, and 2) the difference in ADP between Tony Pollard at 155.0 and Austin Ekeler at 70.8 is staggering.

Elliott's holdout dragging into the season would definitely do wonders for Pollard's owners. But Pollard's talent itself is making him as good a handcuff as any other option out there, and much more so at his current price. Although Pollard was never a bell cow in Memphis, he showed both rushing and receiving prowess. In his last season there, he attempted 78 runs for 552 yards and six TD, while catching 39 passes for 458 yards and three touchdowns.

All in all, he racked up 1,010 yards from scrimmage averaging 8.6 yards per touch. For someone getting drafted at around the 12th to 14th rounds, you can't do much better than taking a flier on him that could easily turn into an RB1 from the first week.
