Mitch Garver and Twins Break Single Season Home Run Record
5 years agoAfter sitting in Minnesota's last two games, Twins catcher Mitch Garver hit his third home run in his last two games on Saturday night, giving him 26 HR on the season. His second blast also gave Minnesota the single-season home run record, breaking the old record of 267 set by the Yankees just last year. In just 295 plate-appearances this year, Garver has been more than impressive, with 57 RBI and 58 runs scored to go along with those 26 long balls. Garver's production has been a boon in a 2019's catching house of horrors but his fantasy future could be even brighter in 2020, as fellow Twin backstop Jason Castro is set be a free agent.
