Derek Dietrich Out of Lineup for First Game Against Cardinals on Sunday
5 years agoAfter making a run of consecutive starts from August 23 - 26 for the injured Joey Votto, it looks like Reds infielder Derek Dietrich's time as a regular starter is over, as he takes a seat again for the first game of Cincinnati's doubleheader in St. Louis on Sunday. After going blowing up in the first two months of the season - hitting 17 home runs in his first 52 games - Dietrich's power has slowed to a trickle since. Dietrich now hasn't hit a home run since July 13 and has only hit two since hitting three home runs against the Pirates on May 28. Slashing .144/.327/.263 with a 66 wRC+ since hitting those three home runs, Dietrich is droppable in all formats.
