Jose LeClerc Notches 10th Save
5 years agoTexas Rangers relief pitcher Jose Leclerc pitched a scoreless ninth inning in Baltimore Thursday to earn his 10th save of the season. LeClerc made things interesting after allowing a leadoff double and a walk in the inning but was able to get out of trouble with the two-run lead intact. LeClerc's 4.22 ERA and astronomical 13 percent walk rate are less than ideal for a closer, but he makes for it somewhat with a 34.3 percent strikeout rate. Most importantly, he has gotten the vote of confidence from manager Chris Woodward and should get the team's save chances for the rest of the season. He should be owned in all formats where saves are a category but has little value in points leagues.
